We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Recovery Support Worker to join our team at HMP Onley on a 12-month fixed term traineeship, working full time (35 hours per week).
Please note: HMP Onley is a rural location with limited public transport options, so reliable travel arrangements are essential
This is a fantastic entry opportunity for someone looking to build a career in recovery, criminal justice, health or social care. Throughout the 12-month programme, you will gain practical experience while working towards a relevant qualification (subject to eligibility), giving you the knowledge, skills and confidence to progress in the field.
You won’t be doing this alone. You will shadow experienced colleagues, receive structured training, regular reviews, mentoring, and external supervision to make sure you stay on track and successfully complete the traineeship.
During the traineeship you will develop skills in:
- Planning and managing a caseload effectively
- Reviewing care and treatment plans and working closely with healthcare and partner agencies
- Co-facilitating groups and structured recovery programmes
- Working in multi-disciplinary and integrated teams
- Collecting and recording data for audit, research and reporting
- Supporting risk, initial and comprehensive assessments
- Delivering 1-to-1 interventions and supporting group delivery
- Supporting service users to develop recovery and through-care plans
- Undertaking other reasonable duties as required by management

All prison-based roles are subject to enhanced DBS checks and HMPPS security vetting. These checks can take up to 5 months to complete. Any offer of employment will be conditional upon the successful completion of both checks.
