Everyone is welcome at M&S. No exceptions. It’s your background, abilities and differences that make you, uniquely you. And when you’re part of M&S, that individuality has the potential to make waves.
All the details
Marks & Spencer is on an exciting journey of transformation, and our Internal Audit & Risk team plays a critical role in supporting this change. We’re looking for an Internal Auditor to join our team and help deliver high-quality audit work across all areas of the business—both UK and international.
As an Internal Auditor, you’ll lead and deliver core audit activities from planning through to reporting. This is a wide-ranging role that gives you exposure to every part of M&S, working with stakeholders at all levels. You’ll assess the design and effectiveness of controls, identify improvements, and support continuous enhancement of our processes.
You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to ad hoc projects, including investigations, data analytics, and risk management. Some UK and international travel may be required (up to 10%).
To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.
Due to high interest, this role may close earlier than advertised. We recommend applying as soon as possible.
What you’ll do
Your key accountabilities will include:
- Lead and deliver core audit activities, including risk assessments, test programmes, and drafting reports in line with Internal Audit methodology.
- Engage stakeholders throughout audits, providing clear progress updates and driving timely completion of actions.
- Build strong relationships across the business to gain insight and support improvements.
- Maintain quality standards and deliver against KPIs while contributing to continuous improvement.
- Support annual audit planning by recommending audits and analytics work.
Who you are
Your skills and experience will include:
- Qualified professional (ACA, ACCA, or IIA preferred) with proven internal audit experience and strong knowledge of risk and control methodologies.
- Ability to design and deliver audit programmes from scratch, including risk assessment, controls evaluation, and report writing.
- Excellent communication and commercial acumen, capable of building strong stakeholder relationships and influencing effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and make practical recommendations.
- Desirable: Experience in retail or multi-channel environments, knowledge of data analytics techniques, and Power BI skills.
